Ages 8+

Celebrate your child’s birthday with a MediaLab party!

For tamariki aged 8+, capture a memorable birthday party in our MediaLab computer suite, where they can create their own 3D games or compete in multiplayer gaming tournaments.

MediaLab birthday parties use a mouse and PC keyboards, not touch screen or game controllers. Party guests must already know how to left and right click on a mouse and be familiar with a keyboard, due to time and resources, the host cannot teach children these skills.

Game On!

Ages 9+. In the MediaLab, step into the wonderful world of 3D Game Design where you can design and play your very own interactive 3D video games. Then have a go at our popular interactive racing game Track Mania or Brawlhalla.

Music Making

Ages 9+. Explore your musical ability by creating multi-layered pieces of music using existing samples and sound loops. No previous music knowledge is required, just an ear for having fun and being creative!

Multiplayer Gaming

Ages 8+. Multiplayer LAN gaming lets you test your gaming skills alongside your friends. Spend two hours on our gaming PCs in our MediaLab, competing with high emotion and full-on energy. Featuring high-speed car racing time trials, and Brawlhalla an E-Sports favourite.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it cost?

MediaLab parties cost $325 per party. There is a $100 deposit to secure your booking, with the balance to be paid on the day of the party.

How many people can I invite?

We can host up to 16 people for MediaLab parties. We require at least two adults on site during parties.

What happens if my child is sick in the lead up to the party?

We will do our best to find an alternative date to host your party when your child is feeling better. Let us know as soon as possible and we will work something out together.

Will anyone be there to help me?

A Nōku te Ao Capital E digital tutor will run the computer session and help tamariki with the digital programmes.

What times are available?

MediaLab parties are two hours, Saturdays and Sundays, 10am – 12pm or 1pm – 3pm

How does food work?

You are welcome to bring your party food along, which can be set up in our room next to the MediaLab studio. There are limited kitchen facilities available.

Where can we park?

Free parking is available for one vehicle available for the party duration for ease of unloading/loading.

Will other people be allowed in the space during the party?

The party space is all yours! Members of the public will not be allowed to access the studio, just your invited party guests.

How long do I have to set up the party?

You’re welcome to arrive 10-15 minutes before your party starts to unload any food/decorations.

If we are eating at Nōku te Ao Capital E where will this be?

There will be a space with a table provided either in the room next to the studio, or just outside. There is a balcony which can be used with adult supervision.

Can I provide alcohol for the adults?

Nōku te Ao Capital E does not hold a liquor license so no alcohol can be consumed in our premises.
