Our Story

Our foundation, our gifted name

In the heart of Pōneke, the first tamariki learned through the power of play, gathering in whare tapere—specially created spaces fostering creativity and connection. At Nōku te Ao Capital E, we are proud to carry forward this tradition. As a modern-day whare tapere, we harness the power of play to ignite creativity, build confidence, and foster resilience in today’s tamariki and rangatahi, preparing them for the future.
Our mission is simple: to nurture generations of kaihōpara explorers, empowering them through purposeful play to shape their world. The gifted name Nōku te Ao means “the world is mine,” or more colloquially, “the world is my oyster” reflecting our promise to young people that their potential is limitless. Tūhuratia, our brand promise, encourages them to explore, discover, and be curious.
Whether in PlayHQ, MediaLab, OnTV, Nōku te Ao Capital E is a vibrant space where young people can unleash their imaginations and explore endless creative possibilities.
Together, we are shaping the next generation of curious minds through the transformative power of play – play with purpose.
