Current Exhibition - STORYLINES FESTIVAL 2010:
The Storylines Illustrators
Every August the Storylines Children's Literature Charitable Trust of New Zealand celebrates books for children with the annual Storylines Festival. This began in 1993 when a group of writers and illustrators gathered together and dreamed of a festival that celebrated New Zealand literature for children and which would bring young readers together with their favourite New Zealand authors and illustrators.
The first Festival of New Zealand Children's Writers and Illustrators was held in Auckland. Nearly 11,000 visitors came to the first free Family Day at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. In 2004 it expanded to include events in Christchurch, Wellington, and New Plymouth and the Storylines Festival is now a recognised feature of the national literary calendar.
This exhibition brings together work from selected illustrators who are in this years Festival: Neroli Williams, Ben Galbraith, Fifi Colston, Sara Acton, Donovan Bixley, Philip Webb and Ruth Paul. Each artist has a different story to tell and creates their pictures in different ways with a variety of tools and inspiration and with many hours spent researching, planning and experimenting before the final illustration is completed.
Some of these amazing prints are for sale. For more information on prices and contact details please talk to the person at the Box Office.
